about the exhibition:

To have insight is to possess an intuitive comprehension or awareness. Artists are often attributed this gift of perception, but in reality, it is the result of continued and dedicated effort. As visual artists, these insights are often dependent on an understanding of both the factual and actual realities of light.

Light is associated in all cultures as holding within its warmth a spirit of renewal. We are guided by the light; it is the promise of redemption and reward at the end of the proverbial tunnel.

For a painter, color is light. Hans Hoffman says it succinctly here, “In nature, light creates the color. In the picture, color creates the light.” It is through color (or by its absence) that we conjure both the fleeting effects of light in nature, and the many moods of our experiences of seeing and living.

Hope is in sight as we move beyond the fear and anxiety of the pandemic toward a brighter and expectant time ahead. In this exhibition we will explore the many metaphors of light with the desire of providing a beacon for the viewers as we all navigate to create a more luminous future.

The Royal Talens Art Ambassadors are active professional artists, all recognized by the arts community for their exceptional talent and dedication to their profession. These artists and Royal Talens have a shared goal to engage, inform, and inspire continuing generations in the arts. By facilitating and stimulating creative expression, we hope to build a greater understanding of the diversity and potential that quality fine art tools and materials can have in producing exciting and meaningful artwork.
