Ecoline Handlettering "Hello Spring" with Dipping Technique
Project by Shelly Kim, Founder of Letters by Shells
Materials
1 Ecoline Brush Pen (lighter color)
1 Royal Talens Ecoline Liquid Watercolor (darker color)
Watercolor Paper
Techniques
Using your Ecoline Brush Pen, dip the Brush Pen directly into the Royal Talens Ecoline Liquid Watercolor Jar
Only dip once and then hand-letter the word “Spring” first in order to see how much space you have left for the word “Hello” on the card. The more pressure you apply for the downstrokes, you should notice more of an ombre effect in the lettering. However, if you are not noticing the ombre effect and only the brush pen color is present, feel free to dip the brush pen in the watercolor jar again. For longer words, repeat the dipping technique after 3-4 letters.
Afterwards, hand-letter the word “hello” in all caps.
(Optional) I also added a few lines before and after the word “hello” and I drew 3 lines on the top and bottom of the word “spring” to add a finishing touch.
Tips
Practice writing the phrase first! Here is a practice sheet I’ve created for you.
Afterwards, if you would like to clean your brush pen, on a separate sheet of paper, draw a few lines and strokes until the brush pen color appears to be the only color.
