Meet our New Artist Ambassadors

Royal Talens Art Ambassadors represent a diverse cross-section of talented and influential artists recognized for their professional success and contributions to their respective fields.

Ambassadors work in a variety of mediums and techniques and share meaningful information about the materials they use and how they factor into the results they achieve as artists raising awareness of the quality and versatility of Royal Talens' innovative product lines and inspire others to experiment and explore new possibilities in their own work.

At its core, it is a shared pledge between the artist and Royal Talens. It transcends solely being a brand champion. It is a mutually beneficial relationship devoted to participating in the development of innovative products and encouraging individual art practice.

Royal Talens currently has 43 active Ambassadors throughout Canada and the US. New candidates are reviewed each year. The path to becoming an ambassador always begins with a shared passion for Royal Talens products. We don’t solicit individuals to become ambassadors but rely on relationships that often begin informally and evolve over time. The commitment to the materials comes from an authentic engagement in their own studio practice.

In 2024, we welcome three new Ambassadors: Beth Bathe, Tina Garrett, and Christine Lashley.

Beth Bathe is an artist residing in Lancaster, PA. After a long career as a graphic designer, she now pursues painting full-time. Primarily painting in oil en plein air since 2013,  she participates in high-profile competitions across the country.

Her paintings have won numerous awards and honors. She was a featured artist in the 2018 February/March issue of PleinAir Magazine and was included in an article regarding Water-Soluble Oils in the December/January 2020/21 issue.

Her painting style is unique. She uses Cobra Artist Water-Mixable oil colors in thin washes with a limited tonalist palette, using unconventional tools such as squeegees and Q-tips along with her brushes.

Her subject matter is often what she refers to as the "vanishing landscape", including finding beauty in buildings, barns and old towns of a time gone by.

She is an Artist Member of the Mid Atlantic Plein Air Painters, the Salmagundi Club, the Oil Painters of America, Outdoor Painters Society, and several other prestigious groups.

She has a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. She teaches classes, leads workshops, and hosts events at her studio, Short Dog Studio, in Ephrata, PA, as well as other regional and national locations. She will also be a featured faculty member in the upcoming Plein Air Live 2024!

Tina Garrett is one of the most well-recognized women artists in Contemporary Western Art today. Tina’s works center on emotion and mood, and they often contain dramatic light or atmospheric effects using Rembrandt Artists’ Quality oils.

Her hands still bear the scars from when she was knocked out of her mother’s arms and into a campfire at age two. Suffering third-degree burns on her hands and lower arms, nothing could keep Tina from drawing as a child to transcend the ugliness of life’s trials. She hid her scars for most of her childhood, but it is with courage that Tina uses those same hands and all her life experiences to paint a more idealized existence.

She has accumulated many national and international awards, including the Women Artists of the West National Exhibition (Best of Show) and the International Artist Magazine People and Figures Grand Prize Winner.

Tina has participated in shows around the world, including the ARC Salon Exhibition at Sotheby’s NY and the European Museum of Modern Art (MEAM) in Barcelona, Spain.

She is an active member of several professional organizations including the Portrait Society of America, the Oil Painters of America, and she is an ARC Living Master.

Christine Lashley has been involved in the arts all her life. In her early years, she sketched outdoors and watched her mother and grandmother create sculptures.

She spent several years in Europe's high fashion world, then worked in graphic design and created murals. She began painting professionally with watercolors but moved to oils in 2009, including Cobra Artist Water-Mixable oils.

Her work has won numerous awards, including Best of Show for both landscape and portrait work. Recent awards were the ARC Salon (Plein Air), Bold Brush Award (June 2020), Best Landscape at the 27th Oil Painters of America National Show, and Best of Show at Telluride Plein Air and Bath County Plein Air.

Her work has been featured in many articles, publications, and media, including two art-instruction DVDs released by Liliedahl and the cover of Plein Air Magazine.

With a BFA from Washington University in St. Louis and prior study at the Sorbonne and Parsons in Paris. She has taught US and international workshops for over 20 years and is a Signature Member of: Oil Painters of America (OPA), Plein Air Painters of the Southeast (PAP-SE), Salmagundi NYC, and the Washington Society of Landscape Painters.
