Sam Gaskin
Q: Sam, you’re the newest member of the Royal Talens North America team. Can you explain a little bit about your role here?
After working in the retail world of art supplies for 7 years, I joined the customer service team here at RT to help out with processing customer orders, shipping out samples, and answering all the questions I can to make sure artists get the high-quality tools they need.
Where did you work prior to RTNA?
I was the general manager at Guild Art Supply here in Northampton, one of the few independent art supply shops left in the Pioneer Valley. This gave me a chance to familiarize myself with the many brands & mediums in our industry.
What is your favorite part of working at Royal Talens?
I appreciate that every day brings a new task or challenge that we tackle as a team, everyone works together here to make sure we stay on target.
What is your favorite Royal Talens product? Why?
I love the Amsterdam Acrylic Colors! The bright hues, wide color range, and buttery texture made it my favorite paint even before I started here, and now I’m excited to try out more of the gels & mediums.
As a child, what did you want to be as an adult?
I think I wanted to be a mad scientist, I don’t think being an artist is too far off!
You’re an artist – Tell us a bit about what you like to create.
My acrylic paintings are bright and colorful, often with cartoony figures on a stark landscape, but I like making music and drawing comics too, all depends on when inspiration strikes!
